Role

Ervin Lovett & Miller provided community design and themeing, entry and common area planning and design, and comprehensive site-planning, architectural, and landscape-architectural design services and construction observation for the Project Entry and Camp Heritage site.

Project

Located along the route once traveled by famed naturalist William Bartram, Camp Heritage is an interpretation of the rural Florida “fish-camp” architecture and native North Florida landscape. With 1,300 homesites, it is the centerpiece of the Heritage Landing community. The family-oriented neighborhood places a strong emphasis on social interaction, recreation and environmental preservation. Recreational amenities include a competition/lap pool, social/play pool, interactive “Manatee Springs” fountain, and a water slide tower inspired by forest-service overlooks. The Storytelling Ring is an ideal location for children’s activities and reinforces the summer-camp character. Other amenities include basketball, tennis, a soccer playing field, sandlot baseball/softball and a children’s playground. Completed in 2005, the community was awarded the 2006 Florida ASLA Award of Merit For Excellence in Landscape Architecture.
